What we collect when you use our sites, why, and what you can do about it.

Last updated: November 1, 2026

This policy covers mellysrecycling.com and compliance.mellysrecycling.com. It explains, in plain English, what we collect when you use either site, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Melly’s Recycling picks up food scraps from businesses and turns them into compost, serving Miami-Dade and southern Broward, Florida. If you have a question about your information, email ethan@mellysrecycling.com or call (305) 318-3555.

The short version

  • We use Google Analytics to see which pages people use.
  • When you fill in a form, we use what you send only to reply to you.
  • If you sign up for the Loop Log, we email you about the topics you picked, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
  • We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Google Analytics

Both sites use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to count visits and see which pages are useful. It uses cookies and collects things like:

  • the pages you view, how long you stay and what you click or scroll to,
  • how you found us (a search, a link or typing the address),
  • your device type, browser, screen size and language,
  • your approximate location, such as the city or country. Google works this out from your IP address; GA4 doesn’t store the IP address itself.

We see this as totals and trends, not as a file on you. Google processes it under its own privacy terms. To opt out, you can block cookies in your browser or install Google’s opt-out add-on.

Contact, quote and pricing forms

When you send a contact form, a quote request, a wholesale pricing request or a compliance plan request, we receive what you type in it, such as your name, business, email, phone number, address and notes. The forms are sent through Formspree, which delivers them to ethan@mellysrecycling.com.

We use it only to reply to you and to give you the quote, pricing, report or plan you asked for. A form doesn’t add you to any mailing list. We keep the email for as long as we work together; ask and we’ll delete it.

Loop Log emails

If you sign up for the Loop Log on mellysrecycling.com, we store your email address and the topics you picked. The list is kept and the emails are sent through Resend. Until our email sending is fully set up, a sign-up may reach us through Formspree instead, and we add it to the list ourselves.

You get a welcome email and then new posts for the topics you chose, nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us.

The farms map

The map on Find local farms loads its map images (tiles) from OpenStreetMap. Like any site your browser loads something from, OpenStreetMap’s servers see your IP address and basic browser details. We don’t ask for or send your location.

What your browser remembers

The sites keep a few small notes in your own browser (local storage): whether you’ve already seen the intro film, and on compliance.mellysrecycling.com the places and business types you add to “My plan”. They stay on your device and aren’t sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

Hosting

Both sites are hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes your IP address to deliver pages and keeps short-term logs for security and reliability.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell or rent your information.
  • We don’t use advertising trackers.
  • We don’t take payments on these sites.
  • These sites aren’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Your choices

You can ask us what we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email ethan@mellysrecycling.com or call (305) 318-3555 and we’ll take care of it.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
