Goals + narrow rules

Illinois organic waste law

Illinois has one narrow rule. Since Jan 1, 2025, permanent venues with 3,500+ occupancy are covered by the Large Event Recycling & Composting Law. A broad statewide mandate (SB2852) is dead for now, and Chicago, Evanston and Urbana are voluntary only.
